Healthy Homemade Granola

Breakfast favourite over here!!

Ok… Let’s be honest here. Nothing, I mean, NOTHING compares to a delicious homemade granola. It’s the best topping/ snack/ treat, anything, EVER!!! Smoothie bowls, cereal, oatmeal, pancakes, you can use it with everything. Extra bonus… MY family also cannot get enough! YUMMMMM!

So now that I’ve confessed my eternal love for this breakfast treat, lol, I’ll give you all the details on how to make it your own!

Like all of my snacking recipes, this one is the best because you can 100% make it your own with different flavour profiles. I always start with a base of large rolled oat flakes, peanut butter (or any it or nut-free butter), superfood powder and raw honey. Everything else can be added, removed whatever you are feeling in that moment. This quote frankly is my favourite way to cook or bake as I have never been one for measuring anything. Haha.

So like I said, I always start with a base of rolled oats, peanut butter (quite literally my favourite ingredient/snack of all time), honey, superfood powder and of course I personally add cinnamon and collagen to everything I make as well. Why not?! I’m all about the health benefits of cinnamon and all about the beauty benefits of collagen 😉😉

Firstly, I think it’s important to address these benefits. Knowing what goes into your food and being able to make the best choices for yourself and your family is worth the research! Cinnamon is loaded with anti-inflammatory properties, antioxidants and can help lower blood pressure! Wow…. A link of additional benefits can be found on Healthline. Collagen is not only the most abundant protein in your body, it’s very important for your skins elasticity and muscles. More information on Collagen can also be found on Healthline. Such a great site for resources.

So continuing on… Lol. Sorry, I can be a bit of a squirrel at times!! You can keep your granola super simple, just with those ingredients and call it a day. But, if you are anything like me, you may crave more flavour!!! You can go for something more nutty, fruity and sweet, chocolatey…. Or all of the above.

For this recipe (and most of my favourites for that matter) I kept it a little more on the nutty and fruity side. Cannot get enough of this combo. It’ll always be my go to.

Healthy Homemade Granola

  • 4 cups oats
  • 2 scoops superfood powder (I always stick with Vanilla)
  • 1 cup Natural Peanut Butter (or other nut butter or choice)
  • 1/3 cup raw Honey/ Maple Syrup or Agave Nectar
  • 1/3 cup melted Coconut Oil
  • 1-2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp Collagen
  • 1 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 cup Hemp Seeds
  • 1/4 cup Shredded Unsweetened Coconut
  • 3 Tbsp Chia Seeds
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (I use raw almonds and cashews)
  • 1/4 cup dried blueberries, raisins, cranberries, cherries, apricots (or combo)

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

In a large bowl, combine oats, nuts, seeds, coconut flakes and cinnamon. Stir to combine. Pour liquid mixture (I like to warm up my natural peanut butter in the microwave for 30 seconds so it’s soft enough to mix) into dry ingredients and stir to coat.

Pour onto a parchment-lined (Of silicone lined) baking sheet and press down with your spatula to create an even layer. Bake for 10 minutes. Stir and press down with your spatula again and bake another 7 minutes approx, keep an eye on it so it doesn’t get too browned. I have burnt this recipe before.. lol.

Remove from oven and let it cool off. Once cool enough, put in air tight container for up to 2 weeks.
***this also makes great gifts in beautiful mason jars with ribbon!!

Enjoy the delicious flavours!! ❤
